🧠 The Signal Brief: AI Stock Insights & Picks
Every newsletter on the internet claims to be crushing the market. Most of them get quiet when you ask for the receipts.
Our sister newsletter Stocks & Income just put 2026's full record online. 134 picks: every outcome tracked, sortable, filterable, on the record. Wins and losses in one place, nothing hidden in a drawer.
You can click through the whole thing right here. But the part we want to draw your attention to is this:
Same writers. Same market. Different inputs.
Of the 134 picks, 81 were shaped by an AltIndex signal. Whether it was an AI Score, an alt-data flag, or a ranking, our data was used. The other 53 were editorial calls made without our data, and those picks used other people’s calls, news, and ideas.
Picks with AltIndex: hit the green 69% of the time
Picks without AltIndex: hit the green only 57%
That's a 12-point gap in how often a pick actually worked, depending on whether our data was used when they wrote it.
And the gap isn't just in hit rate. When the AltIndex picks did hit, they hit harder! The average return across the 81 AltIndex-flagged picks beat the editorial-only average by nearly 4 percentage points.
More of them worked. And the ones that worked worked bigger 📈
Then they put $60,000 behind it.
Hit rate is one test. Actually buying the stocks is another. So Stocks & Income also built six $10,000 portfolios (with every pick drawn from AltIndex) and held them static. No rebalancing. No stop-losses. No second-guessing. Just: does the signal hold up when you leave it alone?
Here's how the experiments performed over 7 months:
AltIndex Top 5 (pure signal, five highest-conviction scores): +23.41%
Congress Copy (AltIndex filtered through disclosed congressional trades): +25.96%
Reddit Top 10 (AltIndex filtered through retail sentiment): +12.26%
WW3 Stocks ETF (AltIndex + defense/geopolitics theme): +9.81%
AltIndex 50 (pure signal, top 50 scores, diversified): +9.21%
Top 5 Robotics (AltIndex + robotics pure-plays): -17.57%
And those numbers aren’t even annualized! Obviously, the robotics portfolio is not doing well, but neither is robotics as an industry. We’re pretty pumped about the results other than that, especially on the AltIndex Top 5 stocks.
What jumps out 👀
The two best performers in the book are the two portfolios where Stocks & Income did the least work.
AltIndex Top 5 was literally just the five highest-conviction scores on our platform, held as-is. AltIndex 50 is the same idea with more names. Both green. Congress Copy, the only themed basket that beat the pure-signal portfolios, is still an AltIndex feed, just filtered through a very boring, very repeatable overlay (what Congress is disclosing).
Worth saying out loud: signals aren't guarantees. Not every AltIndex pick finished green. The robotics basket is down 23%. We're showing you the losers next to the winners on purpose. A 69% hit rate means nothing if you don't see the 31%.
But the pattern across 134 calls and six portfolios is the same thing we write about every week: the alt-data moves before the fundamentals do. Hiring trends, web traffic, insider buys, app install velocity… when those line up, the conviction often shows up in the stock not long after.

🔎 Alt-Data Signals
What’s cooking in markets right now?
Congress Trades
Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar disclosed 17 trades on April 22, and every single one was a buy. They were all executed between March 19–25 during the tariff-driven market selloff. This looks like a pure "buy the fear" deployment, likely totaling $200K+ across industrials, financials, consumer, and tech. She sits on the Financial Services Committee and the Foreign Affairs Committee (where she chairs the Western Hemisphere subcommittee). Nearly all of these trades are solidly green since purchase, with several up double digits in under a month.
The standout pattern here isn't any single trade, it's more so her overall conviction. Zero sells and 17 buys during a week when the market was in panic mode is a strong directional signal, and the results so far suggest either excellent timing or something more.
Bought $GLW ($15-50k) on March 19: up 26.9%. Corning makes the glass for fiber optic cables and AI data center infrastructure. One of the best-performing trades in her batch.
Bought $URI ($1-15k) on March 25: up 31.9%. United Rentals, the equipment rental giant tied to construction and infrastructure spending. This is her single best return and a classic "infrastructure bet" timed almost perfectly at the bottom.
Bought $GS ($15-50k) and $C ($15-50k) on March 19: up 14.9% and 16.4%. Goldman Sachs and Citigroup are directly in her Financial Services Committee's jurisdiction. Both are Miami-heavy banks with significant Latin American exposure, which also overlaps with her Western Hemisphere chair role. Dual committee overlap on both names.
Bought $PTON ($1-15k) on March 19 at $4.06: up 21.2%. This is the wildcard. A $4 meme stock from a sitting congresswoman is not something you see every day. Peloton has been a turnaround story under new management, but this is a pure speculative swing trade at penny-stock territory.

Intel (INTC): People are actively discussing the recent performance of Intel (INTC), with some users noting its significant growth over the past month, and others speculating about potential future price drops. There's also a mention of technology companies and memory makers in general, but it is unclear if this directly relates to Intel.
Adobe (ADBE): Redditors are also talking about the recent drop in Adobe's stock price, with some attributing it to market overreaction following IBM and Service Now results. They note that this has erased two weeks of strong gains for Adobe. However, there is a debate on whether AI will significantly impact Adobe's business in the future, with some arguing that the company can adapt by integrating AI technologies into its products like Photoshop.
